About us

Berü began as an act of care.

Growing up, everyday products were not always safe in our home. My sister lived with severe sensitivities—reacting not just to food, but to clothing, medication, and even skincare. What most people could use without thought had to be questioned, tested, and often avoided.

So my mother began making her own.

She worked with simple ingredients, familiar processes, and an instinct for what felt safe.

What began in our kitchen was never meant to be clever. It was meant to protect.
That intention remains unchanged.

Today, Sangeeta, Sharmada and I; Devika build Berü, with a shared belief that care shouldn't require blind faith. It should be clear, honest, and intentional.

We want to carry Berü forward with the same attention and respect for the body it touches.

Our products are handmade not for romance, but for responsibility—designed to be dependable, gentle, and a part of everyday rituals of care. Ingredients are chosen carefully, not conveniently, and every formulation is made as it would be at home.

If Berü finds a place in your routine, it is simply because it works for you.

Berü means root.
And we will always return to ours.

For me, Berü has never felt separate from my life. It began at home, long before it became a brand—made to suit, to protect, and to work.

Today, I work across most parts of Berü alongside my partners—building it slowly and with care. To me, how something is made, and how it reaches you, matters just as much as the product itself.

I care deeply about staying true to what Berü stands for. The quality of the product is non-negotiable—it has to work. Every decision, whether visible or not, is made with you in mind.

I think of Berü as something I’m still building towards. There’s a quiet belief that when everything comes together, it will do exactly what it’s meant to. That belief is rooted in the trust my father had in me.

Outside of Berü, I’m most at ease on the farm where I live with my mother surrounded by animals, cooking, trying new foods, and doing things with my hands.

I’m also very drawn to the colour purple—sometimes for no reason other than that it’s purple.

Lately, meditation has shifted how I think about care. It’s less about big gestures, and more about the small things done consistently.

I started making products because my daughter couldn’t use anything that was available. I was trying to find a way to make something that would work for her something she didn’t have to question.

The first thing I made was a cold process soap. It took me an entire day to get it right. It wouldn’t trace, nothing looked like what the book said it should, and I didn’t even have a mould—I used a cardboard box lined with plastic. But when I saw it set the next morning, I started again. And then I kept going.

Everything I do begins with instinct. I study ingredients, understand what they do, and then bring them together. Over time, that instinct becomes structure—so every batch is consistent, and it works the way it should.

I’ve always felt that this is simple, if you truly understand your ingredients. The possibilities are endless.

Outside of this, I spend most of my time in the garden or on the golf course. I love my plants, and I love my ice cream. In the family, I’m known for cooking without recipes—everything is by feel. My girls call their favourite meals “whatever she wants,” and somehow, it always works.

To me, care is routine. It’s showing up every day and doing what needs to be done.

It began that way, and it still feels the same.

For me, Berü is deeply personal. It comes from wanting better products - things that feel safe, honest, and genuinely trustworthy. As a consumer, I was looking for that kind of transparency, and being able to create it for others now feels really exciting and fulfilling.

I’ve always been an athlete at heart, first as a professional tennis player and now as a professional pickleball player.

Berü is my first step into building something of my own, which makes it incredibly special to me.

Getting to do this alongside two of my favourite people, Sangeeta Aunty and Devika, makes the journey even more meaningful.
